Episode 505: Fenati’s Fall

Harry Lloyd does it solo with a little help from everyone’s favourite Google Translate lady voice. We start off with a little life update before jumping head first into a pile of Moto3 news and drama. Surprisingly enough it was a young Moto3 rider who stole a number of headlines over the course of the weekend, but for all the wrong reasons. Aside from the flaws of Fenati, we had a glorious weekend at the Red Bull Ring, a circuit Harry is more than happy to go back to. We’re pretty sure Ducati will be more than pleased when the Austrian GP rolls around next year too…

Episode 504: Naming Rights

Jared Mees 00:54:40

Brad Baker 00:56:49

Martin Darlington bloods in new co-host Skyler Vickroy after a little announcement. They get straight down to business and figure out how the hell someone gets a name like ’Skyler Vickroy’. It’s not just about names as the pair also talk the little kid bits of news but in true MotoPod style the news kept breaking so Harry Lloyd steps in to cover some more WSBK silly season and the Suzuka 8 Hour. Once more Scott Bolton has been out in the field and has collected wonderful chats with Baker and Mees.

Episode 503: ThruxtonRing

Harry Lloyd and Martin Darlington jump right into testing in Austria. It was a very red affair but what will the race after summer produce? There’s a couple more bits of Silly Season news and Harry and Martin talk about what they expect from the 2017 rider pairings. Then of course it’s time to chat BSB as we remember just how good a circuit Thruxton is and how quickly the BSB rules seem to change.

Episode 502: Lord of the Ring

Dave Neal and Martin Darlington are back together for the first time in a while and get down to the pressing issues of the day: sunsets. The talk does, of course, eventually turn to the thrilling weekend in Germany where Marquez surfed through the soaking wet to take a decisive championship lead while Jorge Lorenzo forgot his floaty arms. Summer it’s almost upon us so it’s time to figure out what to do without motorcycles going around in circles. Luckily BSB and the Suzuka 8-Hour will help us through…

Episode 500: JackAssen

Danny Kent 00:50:17

Nicky Hayden 01:01:31

Jack Miller 01:05:10

Cal Crutchlow 01:17:46

It’s a historic episode so we keep up a bit of tradition as Martin and Jules come together to preview the Dutch GP on the very same day on which the first EVER MotoPod, or MotoGPod, was recorded. Settle in as it’s a bit of a long one. Martin and Jules spend most of the time going through MotoPod history. They also predict Assen, but as you can probably guess they were a little wrong… It’s was an incredible Sunday in Assen, the 800th lightweight class, the 250th MotoGP are and Assen’s first Sunday race made a bit of a historic day for all three classes and for MotoPod. Dave and Harry then swoop in to talk about all the drama, be warned, Harry still likes Jack Miller… Here’s to 500 more episodes!

Episode 499: Settling In

Benny Solis 00:49:32

Cam Beaubier 00:56:20

Cam Peterson 01:12:12

After a week off we’re back! Or at least Harry Lloyd is. Silly season has finally settled down for all the major seats on the grid so we take the chance to quickly run over who is going where next year before running over the WSBK results from Misano. Jonathan Rea was back to his best as Tom Sykes failed to find that extra 1% to push him and Chaz Davies doomed Harry’s fantasy team…

Episode 498: For Salom

The weekend began on a dark note as Luis Salom tragically lost his life in an accident during Free Practice 2. The Catalan GP continued on with a revised track layout, all the riders out to honour the memory of their friend and former rival. Just like the riders Harry and Dave, who were in the same room for once, talk about the positives of the weekend. The racing world was stretched to its limits this weekend but fortunately the family which makes motorsport so special pulled together and put aside their differences. Ride In Peace Luis.

Episode 497: Not Quite Mugiallo

Martin Darlington and Harry Lloyd chat about Mugello, a roll coaster of a weekend full of ups and downs for a number of riders. There were engine blow ups, sore necks, crashes and titanic battles across the field. All three classes produced some of the best racing we’ve seen in a good long while and a special third host joins us towards the end to help us wrap it all up. The BSB chat is a bit brief as neither Harry nor Martin had a chance, nor knew how to, watch it. We’re into the midst of the race season and there’s no sign of it slowing down!

Episode 496: The Hard Swings of Racing

Dave Neal and Harry Lloyd are back at it to guide you through the latest developments in silly season. The predictable has happened but 2017 is already shaping up to be a dramatic little year. With silly season now more or less out of the way we can finally get back to focusing on 2016! WSBK were out in Sepang and as always had a bit of a mixed weekend with rain adding a bit more excitement. The North West 200 also caused Harry’s eyes to cross with the mind bending speeds achieved by the Superbikes but the event was unfortunately brought to a premature end by some truly tragic news. All of Motopod’s wishes go out to the family of Malachi Mitchell-Thomas who tragically lost his life chasing the dream.
