MotoPod, The Motorcycle Roadracing Podcast, is an internet radio show dedicated to MotoGP and motorcycle racing news, interviews, commentary, opinion and rumor! MotoPod's primary focus is MotoGP, the premier class of the FIM World Championship Motorcycle Grand Prix Road Racing Series, but we’ll have occasional sidetrips into the world of FIM SBK World Superbike, Supersport and many other forms of two wheeled motorsport. Find out what’s going on in the sport that is the pinnacle of motorsports, Grand Prix Motorcycle Road Racing! New episodes every week.
Jules Cisek and Martin Darlington cover some of the news as we start to gear up for the start of the MotoGP season. A little on Rossi, the Jerez test, and "the Kevin Schwantz and COTA situation". Then Jim Race pulls off a brilliant interview with Ferry Brouwer of the Yamaha Classics Racing Team plus a classic chat with Mark Miller, ladies and gentlemen!
00:25:54 PJ Jacobsen
00:34:56 Kenny Noyes
00:52:45 Mark Miller
02:39:32 "Temples of Speed" by Steve Brookes
Jules Cisek and Jim Race go through listener feedback, shoutouts, and bits of news. Interviews with PJ Jacobsen (Tyco Suzuki BSB), Kenny Noyes (Suter-Ariane CEV), and … lets face it, we can't call it an interview - Jim and Mark Miller on the good and bad of Macau and much more. Plus MotoGP and WSBK news (testing, rider lineup) and we talk about the Circuit of The Americas which hosted F1 this month.
Jules Cisek and Jim Race walk through the season finale of World Superbike from Magny-Cours, and the battle in the final race to the closest finish ever in the series (any series?). A quick look ahead to this weekends Motegi MotoGP matchup as well. We close out the show with the ever-popular Mark Miller, joined by Brandon Cretu soon to be riding at the Macau GP shortly. Join us!
Jim Race and Jules Cisek delve deeply into some excellent listener feedback on the topic of the next american MotoGP star and, once again, CRTs. Then show darling Mark Miller talks to Jim about the TT and Silverstone and other tomfoolery.
Jim Race and Jules Cisek return from Utah and Miller Motorsports Park and the WSBK/AMA races there. Intriguing races have lead to unusual results with the, by far, winningest rider now just 5th in the WC! But first we go through tons of listener email (and not all of it about Casey Stoner) and Jim had a couple chats at the track as well.
From the show via D.Edmiston:
"In case you're curious about the whole bore/stroke/piston speed calculations.
stroke = displacement / (pi/4 x bore^2 x number of cylinders)
rpm = piston speed in fpm x 6 / stroke in inches
Normal materials somewhat dictate a mean piston speed of 25.4 m/s max (5000fpm), but pushing 26.5m/s isn't too crazy to think they [ducati] can get away with from R&D and still last the 1200km or so the engines need to."
Jules Cisek and Martin Darlington cover the entertaining (for many reasons) MotoGP weekend in Le Mans but not before some listener feedback and a lot of conjecture around the retirement announcement of Casey Stoner (and no, dammit, we are not bashing the guy!). Some sobering news as well with the death of Mark Buckley at the NW200 with perspective from Mark Miller who talked with Jim Race about that and more.
Jim Race and Jules Cisek discuss the dramatic WSBK races at Donington (wow) and this includes interviews with James Whitham and Leon Haslam. We also answer some excellent listener email, including one audio one! A bit on MotoGP LeMans and a spliced in segment on our first reaction to Casey Stoner's retirement announcement.
0:40:45 Steve Rapp (AMA racer and soon to be CRT wildcard in the USA rounds)
1:23:58 Chris Walker (BSB racer and every other series as well, Race School owner)
2:07:47 Mark Miller (Yeah, him again ;)
Martin Darlington joins Jim Race to analyze opening round of MotoGP from Qatar with its fantastic racing in all three classes and one of the best opening GP rounds in many years. Steve Rapp fills us in on his CRT plans, "The Stalker" talks the Brands Indy opener with us as well as much, much more, and BFF of the show Mark Miller catches us up on life, love and his IoMTT plans. It's a monster show, folks. Enjoy!
A massive end of the year 4 way call with Bob Hayes, Jim Race, Martin Darlington and Jules Cisek. We go through lots of interesting listener email. Then two multi part interviews with director of Fastest, Mark Neale, and then with Mark Miller. Finally the calendar contest winners are announced. Mega show, enjoy in easy to swallow portions - we're off again for a few weeks. We'll be back in January of 2012!
* BSB and traction control
* Laguna ePower
* Mark Miller
Jules Cisek and Jim Race are back and we do a wrapup of Laguna Seca with the ePower/TTX race but not before answering listener email in a very long winded way. Mark Miller makes fun of Jim's hair and then we do a quick wrapup of WSBK/WSS at Silverstone and a bit on the Suzuka 8 hour.
